A Paisley Situation

Welcome to Threads in the Loom! In a previous post, on a previous site I wrote about my obsession with textile printing blocks. http://farrweaves.blogspot.com This is one of my favorites. It’s a hand carved block of wood with a handle afixed to the back, and it appears to be quite old and well used. I regularly troll the internet for used printing blocks, and this was one of my first aquisitions.

I have used it to print on the surface of an encaustic, which is made through a process of layering pigment, paper, fabric, and other materials between layers of melted beeswax and damar resin. The layers are built up and fused with heat.

The same block printed on paper with acrylic paint…

And on tencel woven in a bird’s eye twill in blue…

 And in orange.

Thanks for visiting… Cheers!
